Welcome to Pino Grande Woodworking (PGW). We are Jerry & Frances Kellar, a husband and wife team, based in Pomona, California.
About Our Woodwork
Drawing inspiration from the natural elements and family memories of many a day spent outdoors, every serving board and cutting board is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted by Jerry Kellar, here in Southern California. Approximately 90% of our hardwoods used to produce our boards are sustainably sourced by mills here in the United States. Every board is finished with a plant-based, water-resistant, eco-friendly Belgian hardwax oil. The result? A durable, natural finish that preserves your board's shine and is made to withstand your everyday use.
About Us
Born and raised in Northern California, the Pino Grande region west of Lake Tahoe holds fond memories of Jerry Kellar’s childhood: from family camping trips to soaking in the stories of his great grandfather and great uncle working and living at the Michigan-California Lumber Company where they repaired saw blades and logged pine and redwood in the early 20th century. It is the place that inspired four generations of woodworkers in his family from whom he now continues the traditions passed down to him. After more than a decade working in sales, Jerry turned his passion for woodwork into a full-time small business endeavor, starting Pino Grande Woodworking in 2018. The name pays homage to the region where his great grandfather honed his craftsmanship.
Born and raised in Southern California, Frances Martinez Kellar has long dreamt of owning her own business as she grew up watching her father running his own small business and listening to the stories of her grandfather owning his own business upon immigrating to the United States in the late 1960's. After a career in education that spanned 15 years supporting students and coaching teachers, Frances joined Jerry full-time in April 2021 to lead the day-to-day operations at Pino Grande Woodworking using her skill in research to support strategic solutions. It's been a joy to be partners in life--and now in business.
